Moving to a New Container

Since our inception, MinnesotaWordPressHosting.com has shared a server container with some of our clients. Our goal was to share in the joys and hardships of our clients. While that was a noble goal and done with the best intentions, we have found that this setup does not serve our customers as well as we would like.

The issue arose yesterday when our VPS container unexpectedly quit. We had clients trying to find our support phone number and email and were unable to do so…because our website was down. Doh! *facepalm*

So, starting next week, this website will be housed in its very own container and should, therefore, be available for public viewing in case of emergency. Speaking of which, did you know that we have a 911 Emergency link under the “Contact” link in our main navigation? By filling out the form on that page, you assure that your concerns will be pushed to the top of the list.

This change came about as a direct result of customer feedback (those are the best types of changes). :)

Yesterday’s Website Outage

We experienced a server outage on our “VPS1999″ container yesterday that affected many of our Minneapolis and St. Paul clients. We apologize for this inconvenience.

The server is experiencing software glitches that we are working on remedying.

In the meantime, we are also spinning up a new container for the affected websites and will be migrating all of the sites off of the existing server and onto a new server. This is a precautionary measure, as right now there is no sign that the old server will go down again.

Clients should expect an email from us containing further details of the migration within the next 7 days.
